Beth Zimmerman founded Pets for Patriots in 2009. She had experienced the therapeutic effects of pet adoption in her own life and felt compelled to share the experience with veterans and service members, many of whom yearn for the companionship, acceptance, and unconditional love only a pet can offer. Beth also recognized that hard-to-place shelter pets deserve and yearn for these same things.
Through a nationwide network of shelters, veterinarians, and military/veteran organizations, Pets for Patriots facilitates the process of companion animal adoption to current and former military service members. Their mission is to offer the gift of fidelity, joy, and love to veterans and pets.
Since its inception, Pets for Patriots has facilitated the adoption of over 2700 pets. In addition, they have raised funds to direct $61,759 towards medical care for veterans' pets and to distribute $580,919 through pet food and hardship programs.
