JULY 2020 CHARITY SPOTLIGHT | MISSION K9 RESCUE
At the end of very month, we donate a percentage of every sale to an animal advocacy group. This month, we chose to donate to Mission K9 Rescue.
Mission K9 Rescue (MK9R) exists to Rescue, Reunite, Re-Home, Rehabilitate, and Repair working dogs who have valiantly served our country and communities.
Among many other duties, working dogs have sniffed out bombs and narcotics, patrolled and protected military bases, tracked down enemies, saved lives, and assisted with search and rescue operations.

Mission K9 Rescue believes the contributions of these four-legged heroes should not be forgotten. Their goal is to provide a bright future for each of these special dogs. Founded in 2013, MK9R is committed to facilitating the adoption of retired and retiring working dogs including Military Working Dogs, Contract Working Dogs, Police and Prison K9s, and dogs who have served in airports, in mines, at the border, and in law enforcement.
Based in Houston with additional offices in San Antonio and Los Angeles, MK9R offers assistance and support to retiring working dogs around the world.
To fulfill their mission, Mission K9 Rescue is dedicated to the following actions:
RESCUING working dogs from locations foreign and domestic and finding them a happy home in which to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
REUNITING working dogs with former handlers whenever possible and appropriate - helping facilitate transportation when needed.
REHOMING working dogs who cannot be reunited with a qualified handler.
REHABILITATING working dogs who suffer from work-related anxiety and stress, providing professional treatment as needed to ensure dogs are suitable for adoption.
REPAIRING injuries and addressing medical conditions a working dog may have developed while in service. Since working dogs do not receive retirement benefits, MK9R steps in to provide much-needed financial assistance.
Winner of the Petco Foundation’s “Helping Heroes'' award in 2017, Mission K9 Rescue has rescued over 1,000 working dogs from locations around the world. Impressively, over 420 retired working dogs have been reunited with their former handlers! Since their inception, MK9R has covered medical expenses for thousands of dogs.
To continue their work, Mission K9 Rescue relies on the generosity of individuals and corporations who share their passion and respect for the contributions of working dogs. As with many non-profits, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have impacted every aspect of MK9R’s operations including transports and boarding. They desperately need help! 4Knines is proud to support the efforts of Mission K9 Rescue and to shine a light on their achievements. We hope you will consider contributing to their mission as well.
