Imagine a world with no homeless dogs and cats. It is the mission of the Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL) to create such a world.
As the largest and oldest no-kill shelter in Arizona, AAWL’s vision is to be the community’s leading source for pet adoptions, veterinary services, volunteer opportunities, humane education, and expertise in animal welfare.
AAWL partners with other animal advocacy groups to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home dogs and cats in Maricopa County who would otherwise be euthanized. AAWL houses up to 140 cats and 190 dogs in their shelters at any given time. In addition, 90 foster families provide care for kittens and puppies who are medically fragile or need socialization before becoming eligible for adoption. In 2014 AAWL took in 4,548 homeless pets and was able to find homes for 4,072 cats and dogs.
Through a variety of educational programs including camps, school presentations, workshops, field trips, and birthday parties, AAWL is doing its part to teach Arizona’s youth to interact with animals respectfully and humanely.
AAWL depends on a team of dedicated volunteers and donations from the community. 4Knines was honored to donate to the Arizona Animal Welfare League this month. Each month, 4Knines makes a contribution to select pet charities. We ask you to consider volunteering your time or making a tax deductible to the Arizona Animal Welfare League at https://aawl.org/content/donate-aawl.
