Just like humans, dogs can suffer from allergies. Whether they are food allergies or seasonal allergies, your pup can experience the same nagging, itching symptoms.
However, it can be difficult to recognize these symptoms in your pup. After all, they can’t exactly come out and say that they don’t feel well.
So, how do you know if your furbaby is suffering from those nasty allergies?
There are a few signs that every dog parent should be aware of.
Just humans experience itchy eyes, if your dog is suffering from an allergic reaction, he might constantly scratch or lick himself. Also, if your pup constantly shakes his head, this could be another sign that he is suffering from an allergic reaction. We understand, however, that some pups just like to lick so, you have to decide whether or not the licking is out of character.
If you pup has patches of red or irritated skin that are hot to the touch, he may be suffering from an allergic reaction. He may also have sore, irritated spots around his muzzle or red areas around his eyes.
Sneezing and Coughing
When we think of allergies, we think of someone who sneezes or coughs uncontrollably. If your pup sneezes and coughs a lot or has some sort of discharge coming from his nose or eyes, then he might be suffering from allergies.
During allergy season, you might find that your pup has trouble breathing or has started wheezing. This is another good indication that your dog is suffering from seasonal allergies.
If your dog is suffering from any of these symptoms, it might be a good idea to grab your dog seat cover and make a trip to the vet. Your vet can help determine if your pup really has allergies and can help provide them with some relief.
