When your cover is brand new, the fabric is at its strongest and toughest point. We intentionally build our covers using extremely heavy-duty fibers designed for long-term durability. Paired with the stain-guard and waterproofing layer applied at the factory, the surface can feel slick the very first time you use it.

There’s a simple method to soften the fibers and make the top layer more receptive to traction almost immediately:

1. Lightly mist the top of the cover with water — no need to soak it.
2. Ball up the cover gently and let it sit for 15–20 minutes.
3. Hang it to air dry completely.

This process helps break in the heavy-duty fibers just enough to increase grip. It also softens the stain-guard and waterproofing layer, making them more flexible and less slick without reducing their protective performance.

Our covers use a tight-weave, heavy-duty fabric designed to prevent hair from getting embedded into the fibers. This keeps the cover cleaner over time and dramatically reduces long-term buildup.
However, certain hair types (fine, wiry, or static-prone coats) can still cling to the surface — especially after long car rides or outdoor adventures.
