For starters, we need to state the obvious: no dog is ever too old to be called a puppy. So whether your puppy is 6 months old or 6 years old, they deserve some extra attention on National Puppy Day, March 23, 2022. Here are some pawsome tried and true ideas on how you can spoil your puppy!
1. Extra Playtime
Spending quality time with your dog is the best way to show them love and appreciation. Give your dog an extra long belly rub, play a game of fetch, provide tons of kisses, and spend some time training with them. If you have more than one dog, be sure to give each of them individual attention that is catered to their needs.
2. Go for a ride
What dog doesn’t love a breezy ride in the car? Roll those windows down and let them sniff the wind. Don't forget your car seat cover and dog seat belt!
3. New Toy
Since you’re already in the car, why not hop over to your favorite pet store and let your dog pick out a new toy? This one’s guaranteed to please.
4. Go for a Hike or Visit the Dog Park
Stretch those legs and get ready for new smells on the trail! A long walk in nature is a wonderfully enriching activity for your dog (and you!). Be sure to bring poop bags, fresh water and a bowl.
The dog park is a great option if you don’t have any trails nearby, and will allow your dog to socialize off-leash to their heart’s content.
5. Puppy Massage
Giving your dog a long massage after a romp at the park or long car ride is a great way to strengthen your bond with them and soothe their sore muscles. Top it off with a good brushing (if your dog enjoys that).
