Road Trip! What You Should Know About Bringing Your Dog Along For The Holidays.

By 4Knines Staff. | Traveling with Dogs
Roadtrip with dog The last few months of the year are here, and that usually means holiday travel! Kennels book up fast at this time, so you may be left with no other option than to bring Fido along with you for your holiday festivities. If that sounds stressful to you. keep reading! With proper planning, every member of the family, including the four-legged ones, can enjoy a trip. Vehicles aren't designed with dogs in mind, and neither are planes and hotels! But there are some ways to make things easier for your family and your beloved canine.
  • Just like us, dogs can become easily stressed out about traveling, so it's best to keep a happy, positive attitude around him/her. Be sure to let your dog take a break when you stop to refuel or grab a snack. He'll appreciate the opportunity to stretch his legs and empty his bladder! And if your pet is hungry, offer a snack high in protein, and when you arrive at your destination, let him have his regular meal.
  • If you do not have multiple family members traveling with you, you could allow your dog to ride in the back seat on a 4Knines seat cover. The unique design allows you to create a hammock to keep pooch in his place instead of in the floor board with quick stops. The padded and quilted construction is durable and water resistant, and protects car seats while providing luxurious comfort for pets. All 4Knines seat covers feature a nonslip backing with seat anchors to keep the covers in place, and have convenient openings for seat belts.
  • When traveling long distances by car, it's best to crate your dog. While this might seem "mean" to you, your dog will find comfort in being in his/her familiar space. It's also safer for your dog, and you. You'll be less distracted, and he/she will not be jolted around in the back seat with sudden stops, or feel the need to curl up under your feet! Be sure to use a crate big enough for your dog to stand up in and turn around in, and that the dog cannot break out of.  You may be tempted to put food and water in your pet's crate, but avoid this in order to help prevent your dog from vomiting or having a bathroom accident in the case of motion sickness.
Happy traveling!

Great product!

Does exactly what we wanted. We can easily raise a part of the seat to give our dogs better access to the rear seat of our pickup. And it's easily removed or installed when we need to put humans back there!

The covers are absolutely the best and I have had quite a few over the years. I had a minor issue with my cover and asked if I could get it repaired. The response was: "Thank you for reaching out to us. Your cover is absolutely covered by 4Knines Lifetime Warranty!" I received a new one.
