In one of our most recent blogs, we went over a few general tips for camping with your dog. We wanted to expound on that a little bit and discuss how to keep your dog safe while you are exploring the great outdoors.
While camping can be a great adventure for you and your pup, there are plenty of opportunities for things to go wrong
if you are not careful.
Safe Place to Sleep
It may seem alright to leave your pup out at night, as long as he is on a leash, however, we do not recommend it. Many different animals, such as raccoons and mountain lions, venture out at night. Leaving your pup out at night can put them at risk
of being attacked or injured by an animal. Let your dog sleep in the tent with you or in the car
. Your seat covers
for dogs will keep any dirt or fur off of your seats.
Don't Leave Your Dog Unattended
This may seem obvious, however, it is easy to do. Many dog owners like to let their dogs roam around explore, but this can be dangerous for your pup
. You never know what is lurking around in the wilderness. You pup can stumble upon a wild animal, a snake, or even eat a poisonous plant
. Always keep your pup in sight. It is even better to keep them on a leash or confined to your camp site
Keep Them Hydrated
While you are out hiking
, it is important to keep you pup hydrated, especially during those hot summer days. Your dog is going to be excited about being able to explore a new area and play outside. They can easily overwork and tire themselves
if they are too involved with what they are doing. Be sure to take water breaks on your hikes
and bring enough clean water for your entire trip.
