July Charity Spotlight on Sean Casey Animal Rescue

By 4Knines Staff. | Giving Back

SCAR takes in rescued, confiscated, neglected, injured, ill, unmanageable, or otherwise unwanted animals from private owners, zoos, shelters, and other public organizations.

July Charity Spotlight on Sean Casey Animal RescueThese animals are cared for, and/or rehabilitated to the best of our ability and means until which time they can be found healthy, happy homes "“ whether it be through adoption to qualified candidates or legally released into habitats suitable to the specific species in conjunction with licensed wildlife rehabilitators. Sean Casey Animal Rescue, is a Non-Profit, No Kill Shelter, yet not your ordinary shelter. Part Rescue Shelter, part Adoption Center and part Community Center, makes it a very special place. It is not very big, nor very fancy, but what SCAR lacks in size and style, is made up for tenfold by the people who work there and the size of the heart that beats within the shelter walls. Through hard work, dedication and devotion to the animals, and the instinctive understanding that the animals come first, allows every animal in the shelter to be cared for with compassion. July Charity Spotlight on Sean Casey Animal Rescue In 2007, Sean Casey, President and Founder, was licensed by NY State as an Assistant Wildlife Rehabilitator, and thus wildlife (squirrels, ducks, geese, etc.) were added to the list of animals coming through the shelter on their way to appropriate habitats. In 2009, SCAR took in over 2,000 animals (majority dogs and cats) from the New York City Shelter system, as well as found room for confiscated, neglected, injured, ill, unmanageable, or otherwise unwanted animals from private owners and zoos. Some of these were reptiles, amphibians, and other "exotic" species that need the expert care of vets or other specialists to be rehabilitated. SCAR is one of the few rescues who take in most difficult medical cases. Other rescues and the City's Animal Control looks to them for support. Over 8,000 animals pulled from Animal Care and Control since 1998.

As a community-based organization focused on educating pet owners and animal lovers about the responsibilities of pet ownership, SCAR always has its doors open to the community.

The staff is available to help adopters and community members in general with questions about the health and maintenance of their pets as well as behavior and training issues. Neighborhood children can volunteer to help take care of the animals, and learn compassion as well as proper feeding, grooming, and handling. SCAR has an innovative job training and community service program for Brooklyn high school students. The program teaches these students, most of whom are disadvantaged, about the care and responsible ownership of domesticated animals. They learn hands-on skills: walking, cleaning and feeding dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles and more. As with all non-profits, Sean Casey Animal Rescue relies on the kindness of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Each month, 4Knines selects a worthy organization to "SPOTLIGHT," and we hope you will join us in supporting SCAR with your donation. There are many other ways to help including volunteering, sponsorship and fostering. If you want to learn more about Sean Casey Animal Rescue in New York, please visit Facebook and Website. Cordura seat cover

Great product. Have them on all my seats to protect them from water sand and nails of from all the dogs that travel with me in my camper van to the beach, rivers and woods.

EXCELLENT SEAT COVER

We liked the first cover so much that a few days later we purchased a second one. The cover installs very, very easily, fits and covers the rear seat and the back of the front seats of our Subaru Tribeca perfectly, has flaps that cover the door-side edges of the rear seat, and stays perfectly in place. Spilled or tracked water beads up on the material and can be easily wiped off. At first our dog did tend to slide just a little on the new cover, but he soon learned to stand, sit, and lay just as well as he did before on the uncovered seat. The hammock portion seems like it might provide some little bit of protection in a sudden stop (our guy will chew apart any "doggie seat belt" type of restraint in very short order - so that option is out of the question for us). As to keeping him out of the car front-area - well, our long-legged Standard Poodle has no problem in still looking closely out the front windshield by putting his front feet on the center console - straddling the hammock - with no problem whatsoever. But we did discover that having the hammock in place does allow us to safely keep his water bottle and dish, his leash, and an old towel on the floor under the hammock - where he can no longer get at them (especially the leash and towel) to chew on them. All in all, an excellent seat cover.

My furbabies don't like leather seats!!!! But they love this seat cover!!!

Very hard to find a split bench seat cover at a reasonable price, this one fit the bill. Easy to install, very durable and looks to be easy to clean. Wanted something that would protect the leather seats and was pet friendly (hate it when the material of regular seat covers snags toenails and collars). I don't think I will have to buy another for many years!!!

great cover

This is actually a replacement for my original 4 knines cover which was 4 years old. I used it daily (bringing my pup to work with me) and washed it weekly, so the backing finally started to flake apart and come off. This newer version is easier to put over the headrests, great improvement in the strap and closures. Also the best improvement is the side flaps, the old cover didn't have these. These flaps help to catch the dirt from dogs feet when they are jumping up into the car, instead of it going on the side of the seat.
