Happy Howl-O-Ween! Tips for celebrating the 31st with your dog

By 4Knines Staff. | Holidays
22 Halloween puppy Halloween isn't just for kids! Our four-legged best friends can benefit from some extra laughs, hugs and treats too. Whether you throw a doggie costume party or a chow-down contest, curl up with your dog for a movie or pass out candy together, spending extra time with your dog on this holiday that is known for causing frights will help keep the anxiety for him/her at bay, and give you a chance to spend some quality time with your pooch. Here are some ideas for celebrating the 31st with your dog: Doggie Costume "Paw-ty"- The jury is still out on this one! Dressing pets in costumes is fun for many, but some would rather not. If dressing up is your thing, consider throwing a doggie costume party and inviting your dog's friends from around the block to join in for a dog photo booth, dog games and dogs treats. Our Pinterest board is full of great ideas for throwing a dog "paw-ty," including free printables for the photo booth and ideas for dog games! If you're not one for pet costumes, don't skip the party! Consider a colorful doggie bowtie or bandanna or a simple party hat. (Disclaimer: If you dress your pet in a costume, be sure he/she likes it. It shouldn't cause them stress, constrict breathing, or impede movement or vision.) Safe Dog Treats- It's only natural to let our dogs join in on the fun of Halloween treats, but it's also important to remember that human candy, like chocolate is not safe for dogs. Instead a safe, homemade recipe that looks like the real thing can be a good alternative. For example, doggie candy cornpeanut butter/pumpkin bones and iced biscuits. Or just stock up on bones and doggie jerky you already know they like. Take it a step further and invite some other dogs over for a chow-down contest. (Disclaimer: Be sure to keep discarded candy wrappers out of reach of pets, as they can be choking hazards and dangerous if swallowed.) Scary Movie Night- Some dogs can get overwhelmed by all the hustle and bustle of Halloween night. If that's the case for yours, skip handing out candy and curl up with your family for a scary movie night. You might choose a dog-themed movie, or pick your Halloween favorite, just as long as it won't truly frighten your pet. Make some dog-friendly treats and enjoy a laid-back evening! Puppy misadventure

My 8 month old lab puppy ate something and it required a trip to the vet. They administered peroxide to induce vomiting. He seemed unaffected by the entire experience and after waiting 45 minutes with no results, we were sent home. Naturally, he threw up in the car on the way home. I had recently bought the split rear seat cover. It saved the back seat of my car and cleaned up beautifully. I can only imagine how the cloth seat would have absorbed the odor and stain without the protection of the seat cover. Buying your seat cover was the smartest decision I've made. Love the hammock option.

XL rear seat hammock cover

I own a 2015 Toyota Tundra CrewMax. I was concerned that the XL seat cover wouldn't be big enough for our pups. However, after installing it easily, our pups took to it immediately! Ellie loved the hammock part that comes off the seat a little and slept in it on one of our most recent road trips.

Perfect Fit!

We had fallen back to just putting a sheet over our seats as our Bernese Mountain Dog and our cars never found a perfect match with any of the seat covers we tried until this front seat cover. We immediately put in an order for the backseat cover from 4Knines to give our BMD more room.

Customer Service

I ordered a dog cover for my rear seat. When I placed it, one of the straps was not holding tight so I sent an email to the company that day. I received an immediate response and an immediate replacement. I was so impressed! I love the no hammock cover. It's perfect!
