Have you ever wondered how your dog knows when you will return home and is waiting for you at the door, even when you arrive at different times and outside of a consistent routine?
Do you feel like your dog reads your mind because he or she knows when you are thinking about going for a walk and they get excited before you have even said the magic words or picked up the leash?
Animals communicate with humans and other animals telepathically and intuitively through the exchange of energy and the transference of images, words, and feelings.
Each one of us is like a radio tower, broadcasting energy through our thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Dogs will pick up on the energetic frequencies we project and they will respond to them. So when we are thinking about going for a walk, we have a picture or image in our mind that we project out through our energy. Our dogs will feel that energy and will receive that image, in turn, responding with excitement because we just communicated with them without even being aware of it.
When we are not conscious of the nonverbal ways we are communicating with our dogs, we may run into challenges with them without knowing what is creating or enabling the issue.
Awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and emotions and what we project to our dogs is a great place to begin when training a dog or trying to overcome a behavior issue.
Instead of focusing on what we don’t want to experience with our dog, it’s important to focus on what we do want.
For example, if you are teaching your dog to sit, but in your mind you are envisioning your dog not sitting or not listening to your command, you could say “Sit! Sit!” over and over….but your dog is feeling your energy and seeing that image in your mind of him not sitting. The more frustrated you become, the more you confuse your dog because you are sending mixed signals through your verbal cues and the non-verbal energy and images you are projecting.
Human intuition is like a muscle. With consistent use of it and with practice, we can strengthen this muscle and use it to deepen our communication with our animal companions.
Everyone is capable of using their intuition and communicating telepathically with their dogs. You don’t have to be “gifted” or a psychic. For some it comes easier, and for others who set the intention to succeed at it, they will see how easy it is to do so and how it strengthens their relationships with their furry friends.
A regular practice of meditation is a great way to jumpstart your ability to communicate intuitively with your dog. It helps to ground and center one’s self on a regular basis by quieting the mind in order to clear away the busy mind and to be open to receive subtle messages beyond the usual senses.
After clearing your mind, simply imagine yourself energetically connecting with your dog, being open to receive from him whatever images, words, or feelings you experience. It helps to practice with a notepad so you can jot down whatever comes to you and refer to it later.
Animals often communicate through symbols, so you may suddenly start thinking about a random item or object that may symbolize something for you. Try asking your dog a specific question, but ask through your mind and your energy, rather than through your words… and see what response you get! Have fun with it and allow your imagination to explore the possibilities of what your dog is sharing with you.
The more you practice connecting with your dog this way, the easier and more second nature it will become for you.
Set the intention to be mindful of the how you are communicating with your dog beyond words and through your thoughts feelings and emotions, and you will see your bond with them grow to even deeper levels… creating balance, harmony, and fulfillment for you both!
