Greyhound Fever! Everything You Need to Know About Greyhounds

Greyhound Breed: Personalities of GreyhoundsDid you know that April is adopt a Greyhound month?

The Greyhound is a paw-tastic breed, and can make a wonderful addition to any home, they are gentle, intelligent and of course, beautiful. But what do we really know about them? I know that before doing research on the breed a few years back, I had always thought they were extremely high energy breeds. Boy, was I wrong! I don't think I am alone in thinking that Greyhounds are high energy, and I believe that comes back to most people relating the greyhound to those races we hear so much about. Aside from that, their slim and trim body leads us to see them as a fast, energetic dog. And I think that alone keeps some people from wanting to adopt them. So lets get some Greyhound fever and learn a bit about the personality of this magnificent breed.

The Truth?

Contrary to popular belief, a Greyhound does not need huge amounts of exercise. They do not necessarily need to be occupied every minute of the day in order to keep them from becoming destructive. We might think that because they were bred for racing purposes, they need to run daily to be happy. This is not the case. With racing, they were bred to sprint, not for endurance - that is the difference.

What Is an Ideal Home for a Greyhound?

Greyhound Breed: Personalities of Greyhounds Feeling at HomeA Greyhound can make a great pet for almost any home. They are quite content to lounge around with their owner all day, but can be just as happy going out every morning for a jog with you. They are actually quite low key dogs, believe it or not! They are well known to get along well with cats, small dogs, and other pets too! Greyhounds love their humans, they love people in general, so if you are looking for a dog who will protect your house.... you may want to keep looking, because this breed is so friendly, they would much rather go in for a good scratch on the ears rather than bark at someone for coming to your home. So, what is an ideal home for a Greyhound? Well... pretty much any home! As with any breed, the information I have gave you in this post can vary from dog to dog. Every dog is unique in their own way, and these are simply guidelines for the average Greyhound personality. Before adopting any dog, it is important to do your own research on the breed. Whether you plan on rescuing or adopting a puppy, please... do your research. Be sure the breed is right for you. This can greatly reduce the chances of dogs being returned to breeders, and/or shelters. Have you ever met a Greyhound, or been interested in learning more about them? Share with us in the comments! Puppy misadventure

My 8 month old lab puppy ate something and it required a trip to the vet. They administered peroxide to induce vomiting. He seemed unaffected by the entire experience and after waiting 45 minutes with no results, we were sent home. Naturally, he threw up in the car on the way home. I had recently bought the split rear seat cover. It saved the back seat of my car and cleaned up beautifully. I can only imagine how the cloth seat would have absorbed the odor and stain without the protection of the seat cover. Buying your seat cover was the smartest decision I've made. Love the hammock option.

XL rear seat hammock cover

I own a 2015 Toyota Tundra CrewMax. I was concerned that the XL seat cover wouldn't be big enough for our pups. However, after installing it easily, our pups took to it immediately! Ellie loved the hammock part that comes off the seat a little and slept in it on one of our most recent road trips.

Perfect Fit!

We had fallen back to just putting a sheet over our seats as our Bernese Mountain Dog and our cars never found a perfect match with any of the seat covers we tried until this front seat cover. We immediately put in an order for the backseat cover from 4Knines to give our BMD more room.

I ordered a dog cover for my rear seat. When I placed it, one of the straps was not holding tight so I sent an email to the company that day. I received an immediate response and an immediate replacement. I was so impressed! I love the no hammock cover. It's perfect!
