5 Tips to Keep Your Dogs Teeth Healthy #NationalPetDentalHealthMonth

Dogs Teeth and Dogs HealthFebruary is National Pet Dental Health Month.

Our pets are our family, and we take care of family, and are concerned for their health, right? If everyone thought that way, the statistics I am about to share with you, would be a lot different. Did you know, according to petdental.ca - by the age of two, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some form of periodontal disease? WOW! Those are not numbers we want to see associated with our pets health. And what's more? at least 10% of dogs have an exposed/broken tooth in their mouths, causing extreme pain, and the owners don't have a clue.

What can YOU do to help prevent your pet from becoming a statistic like these?

Perk up your ears!

1. BRUSH!

Now listen, I realize some dogs (and cats) absolutely refuse to let you brush their teeth. But for a lot of those pets, just taking very slow baby steps, and working your way up to a full brush, you can accomplish more than you think. Start with just a 2 second brush, do that every day for one/two weeks. Do a little more the next week, and so on.

2. Dental Chews

They really work! When you walk into a pet store and see the prices on some of the dental chews, you might steer clear of them, but if you choose wisely, they truly do help fight plaque and tartar.

3. Raw Bones

Not everyone feeds raw materials to their dogs. But if this is something you would like to try, do some research on safe raw bones for dogs (never cooked) and you will be surprised at how much these will keep your dogs mouth healthy.

4. Dog toys

There are plenty of toys to choose from when it comes to your pet, but there are toys made specifically to help with your dogs teeth. Find those, spread some (not too much) organic peanut butter on the toy, and let your dog chew his heart out.

5. Dental Check Up at the Vet

Having dental work done at the vets can be super expensive. The point is to try and avoid any work needing done by following tips #1 through #4. BUT, it is still important to take your pet in for a teeth cleaning once and while to be sure there are no cavities or anything else going on in their mouths, that could be causing them pain. We brush our teeth every day. We teach our human children to brush their teeth every day. Pet dental health IS important, and it is just as important for our pets. Whether you brush, or use chews and vet visits, take care of your pets mouth. He will thank you for it! What do you do to keep your pets teeth healthy? Cordura seat cover

Great product. Have them on all my seats to protect them from water sand and nails of from all the dogs that travel with me in my camper van to the beach, rivers and woods.

EXCELLENT SEAT COVER

We liked the first cover so much that a few days later we purchased a second one. The cover installs very, very easily, fits and covers the rear seat and the back of the front seats of our Subaru Tribeca perfectly, has flaps that cover the door-side edges of the rear seat, and stays perfectly in place. Spilled or tracked water beads up on the material and can be easily wiped off. At first our dog did tend to slide just a little on the new cover, but he soon learned to stand, sit, and lay just as well as he did before on the uncovered seat. The hammock portion seems like it might provide some little bit of protection in a sudden stop (our guy will chew apart any "doggie seat belt" type of restraint in very short order - so that option is out of the question for us). As to keeping him out of the car front-area - well, our long-legged Standard Poodle has no problem in still looking closely out the front windshield by putting his front feet on the center console - straddling the hammock - with no problem whatsoever. But we did discover that having the hammock in place does allow us to safely keep his water bottle and dish, his leash, and an old towel on the floor under the hammock - where he can no longer get at them (especially the leash and towel) to chew on them. All in all, an excellent seat cover.

My furbabies don't like leather seats!!!! But they love this seat cover!!!

Very hard to find a split bench seat cover at a reasonable price, this one fit the bill. Easy to install, very durable and looks to be easy to clean. Wanted something that would protect the leather seats and was pet friendly (hate it when the material of regular seat covers snags toenails and collars). I don't think I will have to buy another for many years!!!

great cover

This is actually a replacement for my original 4 knines cover which was 4 years old. I used it daily (bringing my pup to work with me) and washed it weekly, so the backing finally started to flake apart and come off. This newer version is easier to put over the headrests, great improvement in the strap and closures. Also the best improvement is the side flaps, the old cover didn't have these. These flaps help to catch the dirt from dogs feet when they are jumping up into the car, instead of it going on the side of the seat.
