5 Tips to Keep Your Dogs Teeth Healthy #NationalPetDentalHealthMonth

Dogs Teeth and Dogs HealthFebruary is National Pet Dental Health Month.

Our pets are our family, and we take care of family, and are concerned for their health, right? If everyone thought that way, the statistics I am about to share with you, would be a lot different. Did you know, according to - by the age of two, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some form of periodontal disease? WOW! Those are not numbers we want to see associated with our pets health. And what's more? at least 10% of dogs have an exposed/broken tooth in their mouths, causing extreme pain, and the owners don't have a clue.

What can YOU do to help prevent your pet from becoming a statistic like these?

Perk up your ears!

Now listen, I realize some dogs (and cats) absolutely refuse to let you brush their teeth. But for a lot of those pets, just taking very slow baby steps, and working your way up to a full brush, you can accomplish more than you think. Start with just a 2 second brush, do that every day for one/two weeks. Do a little more the next week, and so on.

2. Dental Chews

They really work! When you walk into a pet store and see the prices on some of the dental chews, you might steer clear of them, but if you choose wisely, they truly do help fight plaque and tartar.

3. Raw Bones

Not everyone feeds raw materials to their dogs. But if this is something you would like to try, do some research on safe raw bones for dogs (never cooked) and you will be surprised at how much these will keep your dogs mouth healthy.

4. Dog toys

There are plenty of toys to choose from when it comes to your pet, but there are toys made specifically to help with your dogs teeth. Find those, spread some (not too much) organic peanut butter on the toy, and let your dog chew his heart out.

5. Dental Check Up at the Vet

Having dental work done at the vets can be super expensive. The point is to try and avoid any work needing done by following tips #1 through #4. BUT, it is still important to take your pet in for a teeth cleaning once and while to be sure there are no cavities or anything else going on in their mouths, that could be causing them pain. We brush our teeth every day. We teach our human children to brush their teeth every day. Pet dental health IS important, and it is just as important for our pets. Whether you brush, or use chews and vet visits, take care of your pets mouth. He will thank you for it! What do you do to keep your pets teeth healthy? Great product!

Does exactly what we wanted. We can easily raise a part of the seat to give our dogs better access to the rear seat of our pickup. And it's easily removed or installed when we need to put humans back there!
