September Charity Spotlight on Dogs on Deployment

The Marine Corps has a motto "Semper Fidelis" which means "Always Faithful" "“ to the Corps, to one another, to country.

The word faithful (or loyal) also brings another image to mind...a dog. Dogs are known for the loyalty and unconditional love they bestow upon the humans who welcome them into their lives. Shawn and Alisa Johnson are a dual-military family who wanted to reciprocate their dog's loyalty when they were called to serve at the same time in different parts of the world "“ Alisa in Virginia for six months and Shawn overseas. Alisa desperately wanted to have JD, her faithful Australian Shepherd, near her. Fortunately, she was able to make arrangements with a distant family member (who lived near the Virginia base Alisa was serving) to foster her pup. Alisa was able to visit on weekends, and JD was happy living in the country with his temporary family. Spotlight Dogs on Deployment: To Nurture Your Pet Dogs in Times of NeedShawn and Alisa's experience inspired them to create a solution for fellow service members who found themselves in a similar situation and may not have friends or family to rely on. Thus, Dogs on Deployment was born. A website was built. A Facebook page was started. Dogs on Deployment is an online, listing resource and network for eligible military members to search for volunteers nationwide who are willing to board their pets while they're deployed. As a result of the Johnson's efforts, Dogs on Deployment has assisted over 700 military pet owners through boarding and financial assistance since founding in June 2011. In addition, $60,000 to needing military and veteran families for help with their pet's care during time of emergency or duress.

The mission of Dogs on Deployment is to give military member's peace of mind concerning their pets when it's time to deploy by providing them with the ability to find people willing to help them.

No pet should ever be surrendered due to a military commitment. Dogs on Deployment strives to provide financial, educational, and logistical assistance to eligible and deserving military families. The organization is accredited and has received many awards, and with a 5-star rating was named a 2015 Top Non-Profit. Each month, 4Knines chooses an animal charity to spotlight, and this month we will donate to Dogs on Deployment.  We hope you will consider making a donation to this worthy organization.  You can also support their cause by shopping in their online store, or for the common love of dog and country, support your troops by boarding their pets. Puppy misadventure

My 8 month old lab puppy ate something and it required a trip to the vet. They administered peroxide to induce vomiting. He seemed unaffected by the entire experience and after waiting 45 minutes with no results, we were sent home. Naturally, he threw up in the car on the way home. I had recently bought the split rear seat cover. It saved the back seat of my car and cleaned up beautifully. I can only imagine how the cloth seat would have absorbed the odor and stain without the protection of the seat cover. Buying your seat cover was the smartest decision I've made. Love the hammock option.

XL rear seat hammock cover

I own a 2015 Toyota Tundra CrewMax. I was concerned that the XL seat cover wouldn't be big enough for our pups. However, after installing it easily, our pups took to it immediately! Ellie loved the hammock part that comes off the seat a little and slept in it on one of our most recent road trips.

Perfect Fit!

We had fallen back to just putting a sheet over our seats as our Bernese Mountain Dog and our cars never found a perfect match with any of the seat covers we tried until this front seat cover. We immediately put in an order for the backseat cover from 4Knines to give our BMD more room.

Customer Service

I ordered a dog cover for my rear seat. When I placed it, one of the straps was not holding tight so I sent an email to the company that day. I received an immediate response and an immediate replacement. I was so impressed! I love the no hammock cover. It's perfect!
