Can Rescue Remedy Help Calm Your Dogs?

Rescue Remedy Natural Stress Relief for Pets With Doctor Edward BachYears ago, I worked at a health food store and it seemed to me the whole staff was crazy about Bach's Rescue Remedy.

I on the other hand refrained from using this wonder spray as it contained alcohol, which I do not consume. I will say that was one happy group of people to work with. Now, many years later, I hear that people are using Rescue Remedy for calming dogs. Naturally, because of the health aspects, the topic has gained my interest. There are ways of calming a dog during periods of stress; however, I understand that most people do not have the time or the patience to use training methods for calming their dogs. There are tools one can use to help in such instances, until one is able to totally reprogram the dogs' mind not to be afraid or anxious, such as having the pet wear a thundershirt, or  give their pooch a drop or two of rescue remedy for pets, on the dogs' gums, or even put into their drinking water.

In 1930, in England, a Doctor by the name of Edward Bach was convinced that the morning dew that fell upon flowers and plants had healing properties, because it contained molecules from the flower or plant itself. Being virtually time consuming to get the dew directly from the plants, Dr. Bach would boil the flowers in water; or if the sun was out he would steep the flowers in the sun, in a bowl of spring water. The flowers are then removed, and the remaining essence is then mixed with water and brandy (as a preservative) with a ratio of 50:50, this is what Dr. Bach refers to as mother tincture. Each of the mother tincture formula that are sold in stores are then diluted with other liquids, either, alcohol or glycerin. The resulting product is again diluted before use. By volume, the alcohol based remedy contains 27% grape based brandy as a preservative (roughly 50 proof). The non-alcohol based remedy uses 80% glycerin as a preservative.

It is important to note that there are 2 types of glycerin, one is derived from bio fuel processing, which can be harmful to pets, the other is from animal or plants and are not harmful to our pets. You will more than likely find glycerin in pet treats as opposed to pet foods. Supposedly, it will entice the dog to chew.

Calming Effect

Out of the 38 flower remedies, the pet remedy uses a blend of 5 of those, which are; Star of Bethlehem, Rock Rose, Cherry Plum, Impatiens, and Clematis.. It is said that the remedy is good for calming a dog that is showing signs of anxiety from thunderstorms, separation anxiety, loud noises, stress from traveling, and even used when a dog is fearful. Rescue Remedy to Help With Your Dog BehaviorUltimately, it is always beneficial to work with the dog, to help him to be calm. However, I see no reason why you cannot use the remedy as a tool, to help with training a dog to overcome his fears and insecurities. I personally, would never rely on a medication; herbal or otherwise as a replacement for a permanent solution.

Veterinarian recommended RESCUE® Remedy Pet is a natural way to treat pet anxiety caused by travel, separation, new surroundings, loud noises like thunderstorms and fireworks, and other behavioral issues associated with stress. It is available at Whole Foods Market and independent pet retailers. If you choose to purchase rescue remedy for your dog, please make sure it contains vegetable glycerin as a base. Alcohol is not a good alternative to give to your pet anymore than it would be to give to your child. Rescue Remedy and Dog Seat Covers: Cargo, Dog Bed Liner, Bed Cover: 30% Off Premium Seat Covers

I was inspired to start a website because of my latest rescue dog Rocky.  When I got Rocky, he was totally out of control. Destroying everything he came into contact with. I have always had a knack with working with dogs, and because of this within a few weeks Rocky was a very different dog. I was able to put my dream of writing and my passion for dogs together in a website in hopes of helping others with common and not so common dog issues.

Why Did I Wait So Long?

I should have bought these years ago. Easy to use, easy to clean, and tons of headaches saved in trying to keep a blanket or covering on the car seat when taking the dogs on the trails, camping, etc. Highly recommend.

Terrific product at a great price

I am beyond pleased with everything about my new 4Knines split rear back seat cover! The fabric is soft and attractive. The fit in my 2018 CR-V is perfect. Dirt just brushes off it, and water beads and wipes right off. It couldn't easier to put on and take off. This is a wonderful product at a great price.

XL Back seat bench cover

Love our new purchase from 4Knines. We were looking for a back seat cover that would fit our new 2017 F250 crew cab and this one fits perfect. Highly recommend for those wishing to maintain their seats. The material is excellent quality and it’s quick and easy to put on and take off. We also have the bucket seat covers from this company for our 2015 Yukon Denali and have gotten a lot of use out of them over the last couple of years and they are still in excellent condition and so are our seats. Thanks 4Knines for a great product!

great product, sturdy, XL great fit for new 4Runner, cleans easy

I was worried this product might not hold up since one I recently purchased from another company ripped w/in 2 weeks from my 30lb Aussie pulling on it when trying to get into the back. I have been extremely pleased with the XL cargo liner. The straps are much more durable with more stitching and better fabric. I have a 50 lb Border Collie mix and 30 lb Aussie. They have already put the liner to the test!!! I have used it numerous times in the short 2 weeks I have had it. The XL was a great choice for my new 2017 4Runner. It allows me to strap to the front headrests and protect the whole back of the SUV. The skirt protects the bumper. It is too long when I only strap to the middle seats but I just fold under the extra fabric and still have the skirt. I use the full length most of the time and reason I got the XL. The fabric is sturdy and protected the back when the dogs spilled water. So far I have used it to haul bags of topsoil, go on a camping trip and visit family. I purchased the liner mainly to protect the back b/c we have flyball practice every week and tournaments every month. That's a lot of in/out for equipment, doggies and crates. I was very glad to see the edges fold up to protect the wheel wells. I am extremely pleased with this product and sorry I wasted money on my first purchase from other company. I have already recommended the liner to fellow flyball teammates. Shipping was great also. I ordered on a Sunday and it arrived Sat. So far I have just swept the dirt off and used a shop vac. Cleans up well and easy.
