Dog Parents FAQs About RAW Pet Food

Raw or kibble... seems to be a highly debated and thought about subject more and more every day.

Dog Parents FAQs About RAW Pet Food While there are certain benefits to both RAW and kibble, how do you know which one is right for both you and your pet? Today, let's go over some frequently asked questions (FAQs) about RAW pet food.

Q. Is feeding RAW more expensive than kibble?

  A. The answer to this is touchy. Feeding a good RAW diet is comparable to the pricing of a high-quality kibble. There are ways to cut costs of RAW diets, however... seeking out sales at your local butcher. Preparing your own RAW versus pre mixed packaging. Or buying in bulk to get those deals will help.

Q. Am I suppose to cook the RAW dog food, or can I cook it?

  A. No, do not cook your RAW. Be sure you properly defrost before feeding, but do not cook.

Q. Can I mix my dogs RAW food with his kibble?

  A. No, RAW and kibble digests differently, and can cause your pet to have an upset stomach etc... Feeding kibble in the morning and RAW at night is fine.

Q. I have always heard feeding RAW dog food will make my pet vicious, is this true?

  A. No, not even a bit. This is an old old myth that has since been busted time and time again. Dog Parents FAQs About RAW Pet Food

Q. Aren't chicken bones dangerous for dogs?

  A. RAW chicken bones are great for dogs! They are a soft bone, making it easy for your dog to digest. COOKED chicken bones, on the other hand, are a no no!

Q. My dog is pooping less since I switched to RAW, should I be worried?

  A. The fact that your dog is pooping less, is a good thing. Means you have found a great balanced RAW diet for him!

Q. My dog has stopped drinking as much water, why?

  A. Perfectly normal. All of the moisture which is necessary for your dog to digest his food is in the RAW. Whereas kibble has the moisture taken out of it. This is where you will see the difference in the amount your dog is drinking.

Q. Will my dog get sick from eating RAW? What about salmonella?

  A. The thing with our dogs is, they have wonderful digestive and immunity systems. They are built to handle all kinds of bacteria. Their bodies differ from that of a human in this exact way. Where something such as salmonella or E. Coli is harmful to us, a dogs body is built to fight it off. That being said, always make sure you practice good hygiene on yourself, and your dogs' food dishes when feeding a RAW diet.

Q. What is the best way for me to start off?

  A. This all depends on you. You need to consider pros and cons of pre mixed RAW diets, or preparing it yourself. Figure out what will work best for you and your dog, and go for it! People ask me all the time which I prefer, or which I think is the better option, RAW or kibble... It is hard for me to answer that one, as I do know the benefits of RAW are amazing, yet myself, I feed kibble. To each their own, and I think the biggest thing you can take out of this post, is to do your own research and work it out for you and your pet. Of course, the well being and health of our fur babies comes first and foremost! What are your thoughts on RAW pet foods? Would you be willing to try it? Why Did I Wait So Long?

I should have bought these years ago. Easy to use, easy to clean, and tons of headaches saved in trying to keep a blanket or covering on the car seat when taking the dogs on the trails, camping, etc. Highly recommend.

Terrific product at a great price

I am beyond pleased with everything about my new 4Knines split rear back seat cover! The fabric is soft and attractive. The fit in my 2018 CR-V is perfect. Dirt just brushes off it, and water beads and wipes right off. It couldn't easier to put on and take off. This is a wonderful product at a great price.

XL Back seat bench cover

Love our new purchase from 4Knines. We were looking for a back seat cover that would fit our new 2017 F250 crew cab and this one fits perfect. Highly recommend for those wishing to maintain their seats. The material is excellent quality and it’s quick and easy to put on and take off. We also have the bucket seat covers from this company for our 2015 Yukon Denali and have gotten a lot of use out of them over the last couple of years and they are still in excellent condition and so are our seats. Thanks 4Knines for a great product!

great product, sturdy, XL great fit for new 4Runner, cleans easy

I was worried this product might not hold up since one I recently purchased from another company ripped w/in 2 weeks from my 30lb Aussie pulling on it when trying to get into the back. I have been extremely pleased with the XL cargo liner. The straps are much more durable with more stitching and better fabric. I have a 50 lb Border Collie mix and 30 lb Aussie. They have already put the liner to the test!!! I have used it numerous times in the short 2 weeks I have had it. The XL was a great choice for my new 2017 4Runner. It allows me to strap to the front headrests and protect the whole back of the SUV. The skirt protects the bumper. It is too long when I only strap to the middle seats but I just fold under the extra fabric and still have the skirt. I use the full length most of the time and reason I got the XL. The fabric is sturdy and protected the back when the dogs spilled water. So far I have used it to haul bags of topsoil, go on a camping trip and visit family. I purchased the liner mainly to protect the back b/c we have flyball practice every week and tournaments every month. That's a lot of in/out for equipment, doggies and crates. I was very glad to see the edges fold up to protect the wheel wells. I am extremely pleased with this product and sorry I wasted money on my first purchase from other company. I have already recommended the liner to fellow flyball teammates. Shipping was great also. I ordered on a Sunday and it arrived Sat. So far I have just swept the dirt off and used a shop vac. Cleans up well and easy.
